A night of culinary tastes from top Las Vegas restaurants, beautiful and heart-warming children’s art, great silent and live auction prizes and good friends gathering for a good cause is planned to help children with cancer. An Evening of Hope will be Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m. at the World Market Center, located at 495 S. Grand Central Pkwy, on the 16th Floor at Worldview.
The epicurean-style experience and cocktail reception fundraiser will raise money for the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. The nonprofit provides support, education, hope and advocacy through programs and services for children and adolescents with cancer and their families in Southern Nevada.
An Evening of Hope features complimentary cocktails, wine and hors d’oeuvres. To date, participating restaurants and specialty food providers include: Capital Grille, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, Dom DeMarco’s, Hash House a Go Go, Mundo, Paymon’s Mediterranean Grill and Sprinkles Cupcakes (featured on national television including Ellen!). More will be joining the line-up.
One of the evening’s highlights is the Children’s Art Gallery, which features photography and modern art for sale created by Candlelighters beneficiaries, from toddlers to 21-year-olds. Guests also are invited to bring a bottle of wine, valued at $25 or more, to contribute to a wine package for the live auction.
Each year, Candlelighters recognizes one or more of its beneficiaries for their courage, strength and spirit in fighting childhood cancer and other companies or individuals for their contribution and support in fighting the disease.
The 2015 Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Shine Award will be presented to honoree Taylor, 8, who was diagnosed with a rare hybrid form of T-cell and B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and is currently on a waiting list for a lifesaving bone marrow transplant. His leukemia is so rare that doctors have seen only three other cases throughout their careers. With a bone marrow transplant, Taylor’s chance of survival is 60 percent. He is one of six adopted children. Because of his mixed ethnicity, he faces a 1 in 17 million chance of finding a match.
“Despite his odds, Taylor is an incredible big brother and role model to his siblings, with a heart of gold,” said Melissa Cipriano, executive director of Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. “We are proud to honor Taylor for his heroic spirit, bravery and strength in his fight against childhood cancer.”
Along with Taylor, Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada will be honored with the 2015 Candlelighters Shine Award for its commitment to children with life-threatening diseases, including childhood cancer.
Tickets are available now for $125 per person until Jan. 25, and will be $150 per person after that. For more information, tickets or sponsorship opportunities, visit http://bit.ly/1AXogqI or contact Kelly Webb at 702-737-1919 or kwebb@candlelightersnv.org.
